Been really busy and on the road for the last few months…
…spent a couple weeks in Europe shooting at 120FPS with the prototype 5.0 Alexa firmware for a VISA summer olympics campaign, was one of the firsts to shoot a commercial with the new LEICA Summilux-C lenses in July (which I will post here too), also some opinions on RED’s EPIC…have used it quite a bit lately, from beauty at full frame 5K to sports at 300FPS…will post some of that footage as well hopefully.
Just gotta figure out how to get a better photo interface on TUMBLR, or maybe move the blog over to wordpress or cargo. Stay tuned.
For now, a picture of the SKETCHIEST way to put an Alexa underwater (short of inside a ziplock bag)…but we made it work anyway, and got some incredible Log-C 4:4:4:4 footage at 120FPS of the world’s fastest swimmer…
Here’s a behind the scenes video for “Golden Eyes”, the 120FPS 3D shoot that I photographed for directors Douglas Trumbull and Mark Read last week in New York
It’s embedded in Abel Cine’s blog…
Amazing presentation at the Digital Cinema Summit on high frame capture and projection and the future of ultra realistic immersive cinema led by Douglas Trumbull, where he showed a making of video from our shoot last week with the ZEPAR rig and the phantom 65. Will try to post that clip here tonight…
Exciting announcements from ARRI…L series LED fresnels, brand new tiny, modular alexa camera “ALEXA M”, Alexa “studio”, 120FPS coming soon to Alexa and more…pictures coming soon!
super sweet for on the go, lightweight, one man bands…
FINALLY. The “EX-35” camera that I’d been dying for sony to make for years is now a reality. Called the “F-3K”. Pretty exciting. Apparently with an update next year (hardware? not sure) you will be able to get dual link 4:4:4 out of it….that would make the 20K price tag a great deal in my mind. Interesting price point, pretty sure it’s a bit too expensive, but will be an interesting “competitor” to RED’s epic for the non “45billion k” HD market (good ol’ 1920x1080), aka all you need for a great theatrical experience.
